What to Expect When Entering an Alcohol Rehab in California?
When you first arrive at Valley Recovery Center, you’ll attend an initial assessment with a doctor who specializes in addiction. They’ll get information about your physical and mental health, medical history, family situation, substance use history and intentions for treatment.
The next phase is detox, which is the process during which your body expels the poisonous alcohol. To make this process as comfortable as possible, we may offer you psychological or medical interventions. During detox, you’ll attend meetings and take part in gentle experiential therapy, such as art therapy, music therapy, yoga and meditation. Once your body is free of alcohol, you’ll begin the therapeutic process.
Therapy aims to gain an understanding of what triggers you, identify and treat any underlying conditions and help you develop healthy coping mechanisms. Each individual is assigned a caseworker who works with you throughout the process and beyond.
At Valley Recovery Center, you’ll take part in two to three sessions per week with a licensed therapist and one to two sessions per week with a registered counselor.
