Getting Help With Addiction Treatment
Anthem Insurance
At Valley Recovery Center, we understand that the cost of treatment centers and drug rehab can be intimidating — and that you don’t want to settle for inferior care. Our helpful admissions team is prepared to do the hard work for you and conduct any research necessary to find out if your insurance provider covers addiction treatment. If you’re someone who prefers to do their research independently, we’ve put together a helpful guide about specific insurance providers.
Anthem is part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) group, and if you’re covered by one of their policies, chances are that at least part of your costs will be paid out by them.
With a headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, Anthem is an independent licensee of BCBS. It offers insurance coverage across a broad range of integrated health care plans, as well as specialty products such as vision, dental, disability insurance and behavioral health benefits services, and also offers flexible spending accounts and long-term care insurance.

Where you can recieve coverage
Where Does Anthem Provide Coverage?
Anthem provides one of the most extensive insurance policies across the country.
Does Anthem Cover the Cost of Rehab?
As long as they are deemed medical necessities, many substance abuse treatment services are covered. This means your policy should include alcohol, opioid and benzodiazepine detox due to these being physical addictions that would be dangerous to quit without medical assistance. In some cases, your insurance company may cover a specific amount of time in treatment — for example, the first 30 days. This will depend on your individual plan and the level of health insurance coverage you’re eligible for.
Anthem offers a range of plans through employers and has specific policies for retired or current federal employees. Also, because it is a part of the BCBS network, you may have access to benefits outside the state where you reside. Seeking treatment away from home can be particularly attractive to those for whom confidentiality is a priority.
Anthem does offer coverage for drug addiction treatment, but we recommend that you check exactly what’s included in your policy by calling the number on the back of your insurance card or visiting the member services website.
